Total Ministry
HOW YOU CAN BE A MINISTER
St. Mark’s Chapel is a “Total Ministry” congregation—a church in which ALL of the members are actively involved in the whole work of the People of God. There are no spectators, because we expect everybody to find the place to which God is calling them. So, the question is not whether you are engaged in ministry but which of our many opportunities you choose. So, carpe diem!, right now, TODAY, grab hold of your chance to serve because God will make sure that you get much more out of the effort than you could ever put into it.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS
We believe that God is calling us to identify the best use of the gifts and talents that we have received by engaging in one (or more) expressions of ministry. We have organized those ministries in the form of six branches of Christian service:
SERVICE & OUTREACH TO OTHERS - ___________, Coordinator
The effort to reach out to those who are in-need or at-risk means helping people locally and worldwide either through direct personal care or providing financial assistance.
WORSHIP & MUSIC - Anne Errington, Coordinator
Working with the Chaplain to make our worship and music engaging and uplifting means making sure that God’s grace and strength are constantly equipping all of us for the work that God gives us to do.
EVANGELISM & CHURCH GROWTH - Alison Davidow, Coordinator
Opening ourselves to God’s Spirit through prayer and reflection fills us with the power to share the Good News with others—so that the church may increase in participation and effectiveness.
EDUCATION - Lee Shaffer, Coordinator
Providing information, understanding, and skills to draw on all the resources of our Christian heritage and to make full use of the wisdom that God is constantly pouring into our hearts and minds.
PASTORAL CARE - Ken Kraft, Coordinator
Nurturing the bonds of affection and concern between all of the Chapel’s members through constant contact and practical assistance, especially at times of personal and family crisis.
STEWARDSHIP - Paul Wiske, Coordinator
Reminding ourselves that everything that we are and all that we have comes from God, we seek to honor our Creator through lives of sacrificial giving—cheerful sharing of time, treasure, and talent; building a personal and corporate legacy of THANKS-living.
Each of these six branches of ministry has a MINISTRY COORDINATOR, someone who shapes the work that the Chapel will be using as its focus for the upcoming year. The Ministry Coordinator is looking for individuals who want to be a part of making our hopes become reality. If you feel the call to be a part of any of the six ministry branches described here, either speak to the Chapel Minister or directly to the Ministry Coordinator.
WE HAVE A PLACE FOR YOU!
