“From generation to generation:”
In Eucharistic Prayer C, we say to our God “…your church gives honor, glory, and worship, from generation to generation.” In this world of fear and mistrust, it is more imperative than ever for progressive Christian congregations to establish and promote viable programs for families.
Why “more imperative” now? In our community – and in our state – the more conservative, fundamentalist faith communities are growing by leaps and bounds. The times are uncertain; there is security in narrow definitions and inarguable “certainties.”
Our vision for Christian education is a reflection of the vision of our curriculum, Seasons of the Spirit which:
- invites us to explore meaning and mystery in the Bible through the lectionary (schedule of scriptures)
- encourages us to experience the transforming power of Christ as together worship, sacraments, and education work in our lives
- calls us into the ecumenical, global, and inclusive heart of the church where these resources are grounded and shaped
- nurtures faith by engaging the imagination through the Bible, tradition, science, technology, and the arts.
- engages responsibly and creatively the contemporary teaching and learning environment of Christian congregations and parishes
- sends us into the contemporary world with its current events, issues, knowledge, and discoveries acting as an arena to test, share and live out our faith
