Highlands Institute on American Religious and Philosophical Thought
This group is a community of productive scholars with diverse theological and philosophical perspectives whose conferences are held in Highlands, NC. It comes recommended by a couple of St. Markers. January Adventure
Several St. Markers have attended this annual conference at Epworth-by-the Sea on St. Simons Island, GA the past several years. The subject is emerging, progressive, liberal, open Christianity. There is no point of view to sell, only the desire to provide scholarly, thought-provoking, alternative perspectives about the foundational faith that brings us together. Past speakers have included the likes of Marcus Borg, Barbara Brown Taylor, Brian McLaren, and John Dominic Crossan.
The January 2012 program for which the theme will be"Thinking Different , Finding Harmony" will include Brian McLaren, Richard Rohr and Kate Campbell in concert. The session will be Friday Evening January 13 - Sunday Noon, January 15, 2012. The concert is Saturday. Registration opened on May 9th and we understand filled by the end of the month... but there is a waiting list.
